Release status
Specgent is pre-release. The distribution version is 0.3.0, but no version has been published, so there is no released package and no supported-version matrix yet. These pages describe the product as implemented and gated in continuous integration, not as released.
Supported platforms
| Requirement | Supported |
|---|---|
| Operating system | macOS or Linux |
| Node.js | 22 (22.13 or later) or 24 |
| Python | 3.11 to 3.14 |
| Claude Code | 2.1.x |
| Git | required for the workspace |
Windows is not covered, and no Windows claim is made. Git is required because the workspace scan reads tracked and untracked files and records repository identity.
Specgent installs into a workspace you already have. It does not create one, and
it writes only inside .specgent/ and .claude/.
What local operation covers
“Local” covers four separate properties. Three hold and one does not.
| Property | Status | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Local-first operation | Holds | No account, remote service, daemon, telemetry endpoint or container; runs, evidence and the store are files under the workspace |
| Air-gapped installation | Holds, with staged inputs | Installable from frozen package caches on a host with no network egress, once its inputs are staged |
| Offline deterministic verification | Holds | The default verification checks take no input from outside the repository beyond the toolchain and a short list of declared sites |
| Offline model execution | Does not hold | Model reasoning belongs to the Claude Code host, and Specgent supplies no local inference provider |
The deterministic engine and validation run with no network, but end-to-end authoring is not established offline, because the authoring steps depend on the model host.
