What Specgent does
Specgent converts an idea into a traceable chain of product and technical specifications. Eleven operations carry the work from workspace context through research, a product requirements document and a technical RFC to Epics, Features and one specification per delivery unit. Each operation is invoked by hand, and no operation starts another.
The result is one self-contained specification per delivery unit: a Feature Specification for a cohesive Feature, or a Feature-Slice Specification for each selected Slice. It carries the product behavior, technical contract, evidence anchors, constraints, acceptance conditions and verification obligations that a downstream planning tool needs to derive its own plan and tasks.
Where it stops
Specgent produces specifications. It does not implement them. It does not modify application source, tests or infrastructure, generate patches or commits, write implementation task backlogs, run builds or tests, or create records in an external planning system.
Its readiness vocabulary stops at development-ready. It never reports work as
implemented, test-passing, QA-approved, deployed or released, because it never
observes a build, a test run or a deployment.
Grounded in your workspace
Operations read a promoted, versioned scan of your workspace, and an operation that requires that context refuses to run without it. Each operation loads its inputs within declared budgets and records a disposition for every one. Evidence workers answer one bounded question each with read-only tools, and repository content is treated as untrusted evidence, never as executable instruction. Specgent holds no credentials of its own.
Availability
Specgent is pre-release. No version has been published yet, so there is no released package to download or install. These pages describe the product as it is implemented today.
Where to start
Read the Specgent overview first, then follow the eleven operations in order. At the end of the chain, handing off to planning explains what a downstream tool consumes.
